Methods
1. Collecting Climate Data
First, we collected data necessary for the calculation of fine dust concentration and atmospheric stability on the Korea. Data such as wind speed, solar radiation, cloud cover, and cloud height were summarized as monthly and annual average statistics.
2. Calculation of Atmospheric Stability
Second, through Excel and R programs, atmospheric stability by city was calculated using wind speed and solar radiation data. At night, atmospheric stability is relatively higher than that of daytime, and since it is difficult to obtain reliable data necessary to calculate the atmospheric stability classes, our study focused on atmospheric stability during the day.
3. Find the Relation
We get the data of atmospheric stability and of fine dust. Now, we draw graphs of atmospheric stability and fine dust concentration annually and monthly. The graphs show the change over 22 years and the relationship between atmospheric stability and fine dust concentration. Thus, we see them and conclude relation.
